In our new department for research and development, we want to drive innovation. Our experience in applied science enables us to work out novel approaches and concepts using targeted research methodology. Over the long term, these approaches and concepts are incorporated into company-internal developments and new products.

Cooperative research

Cooperative research with partners from science and industry plays a key role in our department for research and development. Therefore, strengths can be combined in collaborating research projects to achieve the best possible results. Through our strong roots in the university sector, we also aim towards promoting the knowledge transfer between science and industry.

Modelling and simulation

Especially in research, significant uncertainties and numerous open variables occur. The aim of our department is to minimize expensive prototypes and elaborate tests through the targeted use of modelling and simulation. In particular, modelling helps us build an in-depth understanding of complex processes, which is essential for research. This enables us to systematically identify potential and efficiently implement resulting approaches. An interdisciplinary expertise in modelling technical systems and processes allows us to conduct flexible research in various fields such as energy/process engineering, robotics and the use of artificial intelligence.

Project: AI-based cost calculation

In this research project, we are developing our own source code for the company-internal calculation of production costs in cooperation with Regensburg University of Applied Sciences. Therefore, a machine learning model is to be built and trained with inventory data on parts that have already been manufactured. The model can then predict the price of a new production part in order to simplify and automate the cost calculation.
